In fact, children are used to feel attracted by fairy tales and fantasy stories.
For instance, Alice in Wonderland or The legend or Sleepy Hollow show the success
of such stories. By the way, children like to dress up as ghosts during Halloween.
The fact is that children are fond of such stories because their imagination
is far more developed than the one of most adults.
Children discover reality but they still have a specific mind with specific
rules. They dream a lot more than most individuals and this is the reason why
they like to believe that they are somebody else when they play ( a heroe most
of the time).
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the famous writer of the "Petit Prince"
has shown the specific way of thinking that children have and which is different
from the way adults think. For example, the meeting of the Prince with the businessman
is in fact the meeting of two completely different world. The one of the small
Prince is thrust by imagination and the businessman’ s world is dominated by
numerous figures, statistics and possession. In fact, the small Prince seems
wiser than the businessman.
As a matter of fact, children have more freedom to dream because they are not
influenced by the rules imposed by society.
Their mind is not perverted by the way everybody thinks and so imagination is
still alive !
